The Highlandlake Pioneer Cemetery is open to the public from dawn to dusk

Anyone caught in the cemetery after dark without signed, written permission in their immediate possession, is subject to arrest.

The first known burial in the Highlandlake Cemetery was in 1878. In 1880, the Highlandlake community created an official "Highlandlake Cemetery Association." and then purchased one and a half acres encompassing the original family burial ground from C. A. Pound. The cemetery association dissolved in 1906, however, many of the records continued to be kept, first by descendants of L. C. Mead, and now by Historic Highlandlake, Inc.
